Lisa Breslow Thompson
After discovering that paintings of food and beverages elicit powerful and positive emotional responses in people, my most recent acrylic paintings focus on food-related themes. These series include desserts, candy, cocktails, sushi, soda bottles, and iconic foods and their packaging. When someone tells me that my painting makes their mouth water, or looks good enough to eat, then I feel successful!
In my most recent work, I have revisited still life with flowers, as well as beginning a series of beach landscapes featuring Halibut Point in Gloucester.
As a graphic designer, I strive to create still life compositions that are tightly cropped and have a lot of dynamic tension. My pictures have a bold and graphic feel to them, and I especially enjoy experimenting with color relationships in my paintings.
